a day at the lake

With several days free due to the family not coming out to California the the wedding that was planned for this weekend, we decided to take advantage of the relaxed rules for shelter-in-place to visit the lake.

We have lived in Alameda County for almost two and a half years now, and have finally made to Lake Chabot.  Lake Chabot is a man-made lake, made back in 1875, WOW, when they created a reservoir to help bring fresh water to the Bay area. It happens to be about half way between where we live and the San Leandro Marina, one of my very favorite places to go.

After weeks in quarantine, getting out into the fresh outdoors is great relief. Much of the park is still closed, including the paddle boats and swimming. A few people were fishing on the dock. The cafe had just closed when we arrived.

We saw many geese swimming around in the reeds And ducks out towards the center of the lake.
