BLM protest--Pleasanton

Before you post another thing about looting or property being destroyed in the protests do this one thing. Set a timer and kneel on one knee for eight minutes and 46 seconds.

The amount of time it took to kill George Floyd.

We did that at the end of our walk yesterday. I couldn't do it. Neither could most of the people around me. Almost everyone ended up sitting on the road before the time was up.

And we didn't have a person pleading for their very life beneath us.

 My facebook feed is filled with posts on what is happening in Minneapolis and around the country and world and rightfully so.

A few posts point out the few people looting versus the thousands peacefully protesting, but most understand this is a turning point in our history. #BlackLivesMatter

If you are on facebook daily and have ignored the protests, the police actions that caused them and the desperate need for change...WHY?

 This was a vicious, evil act. One of many that has happened before and AFTER this horrific murder.

 I am not going to be just not racist anymore, I am going to be loudly and strongly ANTI-RACIST!

It is 2020, and it is long, long since time to be over this crap.

Written by my son's aunt in law and shared on facebook: My niece and nephew live only a few blocks away from the MN riots. Their home is a cute place and it used to be a bar. That makes all of this very scary as she posts that they have fire extinguishers and hose at the ready. They’ve put a sign out saying “This a home, not a place of business.” I’m pretty sure Kevin (yes, my son Kevin) is staying up all night. Still, they support the protests and I think this shows why. There needs to be reform. Please dont look away and say, “It‘s not My problem.” That is a privilege only we are allowed as white people. People are fighting for their brothers, sons, fathers, sisters, daughters, and mothers💛

If you have no issue with a man being murdered while he cries out for his mother, please unfriend me. Morally, politically, religiously, we have absolutely NOTHING in common.😢😢
